The Firm

Built for technology. Focused on capital.

Wrotham Partners helps technology companies raise finance — advising founders, management teams and shareholders on growth equity, private capital and access to institutional investors.

Why Wrotham

Specialism creates perspective.

Technology businesses are financed on their own terms. Revenue is recognised differently, growth is funded ahead of cash generation, and value is judged against measures that have little meaning in most other sectors.

Concentrating on one market allows those distinctions to be understood properly: how recurring revenue behaves under pressure, what separates efficient growth from expensive growth, how gross margin evolves with delivery model, and why two businesses with identical headline numbers can be valued very differently.

It also brings familiarity with the expectations of institutional capital. Professional investors in technology work from a consistent framework, and a business that speaks to that framework directly is easier to underwrite than one that does not.

Capital structure is part of the same picture. Instrument, preference, governance and consent rights shape what a company can do for years afterwards, and those consequences are best considered before terms are on the table rather than after.

Our perspective

Capital is more than a transaction.

Raising capital is one of the few decisions a management team makes that is genuinely difficult to reverse. It sets the shareholder register, the governance framework and the expectations the business will be measured against.

Timing determines what the company can evidence. Positioning determines how that evidence is understood. Structure determines what the numbers actually mean. Alignment with the incoming investor determines how the relationship functions once the process is over.

Preparation runs through all of it. Institutional capital responds to businesses that know themselves precisely and are candid about where the plan carries risk.

A shareholder joins the business for years. That should weigh more heavily than a headline number.

How we think

Three principles.

Focus

We concentrate on technology and private capital. Specialism is what allows a view to be worth holding.

Alignment

Capital should support the company's long-term objectives, not merely satisfy an immediate requirement.

Execution

Important capital decisions require preparation, discipline and momentum.

Geographic perspective

European companies. International capital.

Our focus is the UK and European technology economy. It is a market with genuine depth — strong engineering talent, mature enterprise buyers and companies building across borders from an early stage.

Capital, however, is global. European technology businesses routinely attract interest from investors based well outside the region, and those investors bring scale, comparative perspective and different expectations on governance, reporting and pace.

That combination shapes how a company should present itself. Domestic context still matters — regulation, procurement and labour markets differ meaningfully between European jurisdictions — but the standard being applied is often an international one.
